If a student has committed criminal offenses, has unpaid judgments, etc., the student may request a Fitness Determination (FD) from TREC prior to filing an application. This step may save time in pursuing a license if the student does not satisfy TREC’s qualifications for honesty, trustworthiness, and integrity. Reporting: The state does not require schools to report qualifying course completions. Students will submit their certificate of completion with their license application.
Expiration Date of Course: The CE Shop’s Pre-Licensing courses expire six months after the date of purchase. Each student will be granted a one-month extension at no charge, to be applied immediately after the initial six-month term. For any reactivation or extension of the course after the seventh month, The CE Shop will charge the student 20% of the current retail price of the course for each 30-day extension or partial 30-day extension in the event that the course finally terminates before the end of the final 30-day extension. Students may also elect to re-enroll for 50% of the current retail price of the course, if the course has hit the year expiration or the student is at the 7 month mark and wants to repurchase and restart the course and enrollment. Extensions or reactivations cannot be granted beyond 12 months from the purchase of the course since, in all events, the course terminates 12 months after purchase.
Certificates: Immediately upon course completions, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.
Max Hours in a 24-Hour Period: Students will not receive credit for more than 12 hours of prelicense education in a 24-hour period. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you. A 30-hour qualifying course cannot be started and completed in less than 3 days.
Course Final Exam: Course final exams must be passed with a minimum of 70% and may be taken a maximum of 2 times. If the first attempt is not passed, the second attempt must be completed within 90 days of the orginal exam attempt. Otherwise, students failing the end-of-course examination must repeat the course prior to being eligible to take the end-of-course examination again.

Hours Required by the State: 270 classroom hours of qualifying real estate courses, including the following mandatory courses:
Principles of Real Estate I (30 classroom hours)
Principles of Real Estate II (30 classroom hours)
Law of Agency (30 classroom hours)
Law of Contracts (30 classroom hours)
Promulgated Contracts Forms (30 classroom hours)
Real Estate Finance (30 classroom hours)

Additional Courses Required to Meet the 270 Required Hours:

*The Real Estate Brokerage course must be completed within two years before the application date.An additional 630 classroom hours in related qualifying courses acceptable to the Commission or approved Continuing Education (CE) courses. A bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university satisfies all of the related education requirements for a broker license. A copy of the college transcript awarding the degree must be submitted as evidence of completion of the degree.

If you are renewing for the first time, active or inactive, you must have a total of 270 qualifying real estate course hours, 4 hours of TREC’s Legal Update I, and 4 hours of TREC’s Legal Update II posted to your license record prior to submitting your renewal. If you have been made a supervisor by your broker, you must also complete the 6-hour Broker Responsibility course to renew.If you submitted a total of 180 hours to satisfy the initial education requirements, you may complete the courses below to satisfy your first renewal.Hours Required by the State: 98 hours

Repeat Course in Back-to-Back Renewals: According to Texas Rule Chapter 535, Subchapter I, Section 535.92 (3h), credit will not be given for attendance of the same course more than once during the term of the current license or during the two?year period preceding the filing of an application for late renewal or return to active status.
