Because quality of life isn't conducive to living on top of a landfill, under an overpass, or next door to a factory, laws and regulations are in place that impact what you and others can do with the land.

In this course, we’ll look at those laws and regulations, what they mean to the environment, and how land use planning occurs at the local level. Along the way, we’ll see just how much Big Brother or Big Sister has to say about property owner rights.

Course highlights:

  • Governmental police powers, such as eminent domain, escheat, and taxation
  • Public land use controls including zoning, subdivision regulations, building codes and city certifications, and the Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act
  • Private land use controls including deed restrictions and CC&Rs
  • Activities and scenarios to reinforce key concepts
