This course examines how artificial intelligence is changing the practice of real estate brokerage and what that means for licensees’ professional obligations. Through instructor-led discussion, guided practice scenarios, and live prompting exercises, participants apply AI-assisted approaches to client communication, transaction management, and market research — while maintaining the professional judgment, accuracy standards, ethical responsibilities, fair housing compliance, antitrust awareness, and consumer protection obligations required of licensed real estate professionals. The course addresses emerging regulatory concerns including AI use in advertising, professional integrity, client data security, and the licensee’s continuing duty to consumers in an environment where AI platforms are increasingly part of the real estate landscape. The course does not teach software operation; it teaches professional decision-making in an AI-assisted practice.
Iowa State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education
Renewal Date: 12/31 every three years
Hours Required: 36 hours
Note: per Iowa state regulations, a maximum of 24 hours may be taken by distance learning during each three-year renewal period. At least 12 hours of continuing education must be taken via live instruction. There is no requirement as to which course or courses are taken via live instruction.

Certificates: Immediately upon course completions, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.
Final Exam: Final exams must be passed with a minimum of 80% and may be taken as many times as necessary in order to pass.
License Renewal Process: The process to renew in this state is to log in to the licensing system online and follow the prompts to renew.
Max Hours in a 24-Hour Period: Students will not receive credit for more than 8 hours of continuing education in a 24-hour period. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.
Course Duplication: During each three-year renewal period a course may be taken for credit only once. A course may be repeated for credit ONLY if the course numbers and instructors are different.
