Is Real Estate Right for You?
A career in real estate means a lot of things to a lot of people, but here are a few key points that make it ideal for you:
✓ Flexible schedule
✓ Entrepreneurial opportunity
✓ The ability to help others
✓ A fun profession
✓ Low barrier to entry
The ability to create your schedule and manage your day appeals to many. As a realtor you can set appointments around family and personal obligations, allowing for a greater quality of life and job satisfaction. No longer are you limited to how much you can make, who you work for, or when you work; the life of a realtor offers many opportunities. Another great thing about being a real estate agent is the chance to work in a very social industry. You’ll get out of the office and network with other realtors, work directly with people, hold “Open House” events, and interact with the community.
You’ll also have the opportunity to utilize your creative side when putting together and executing marketing campaigns. Attracting customers, building relationships with them, and providing them with great service can pay dividends later too. A lot of your business will come from referrals and word of mouth. People will want to tell their friends, family, and colleagues about the excellent service you provided and the great home you found for them. All of this will lead to more business down the road, and keep you active in the real estate market.
Let us provide you with the tools and direction you need to get your Pennsylvania real estate license by completing your education requirement via our exciting online courses. When you are licensed, The CE Shop will be here to provide you with Continuing Education courses, and our Agent Concierge program will help you stay on top of your licensing requirements and renewal deadlines.
Annual income for real estate agents can vary widely. Factors to consider when determining your income potential include:
✓ Full-time or part-time status
✓ Affiliated brokerage
✓ Housing prices and trends in your area
Rich with history and made up of both big cities and rural towns, Pennsylvania offers plenty of opportunity to make a good living throughout the state. With an idea of where you’d like to work, and knowing the community and market in that area, you’ll be able to easily gauge your income potential. Whether you decide to work full-time or part-time, nailing down a target market to represent is important to your success.
Real estate agents don’t typically earn salaries; instead they are paid by commission. Understanding how real estate commissions are calculated and make up your paycheck will help determine your earning potential. Here is an example of how a commission may be structured:
Commissions are generally 6% of a home’s purchase price. The listing agent splits that percentage in half with the buyer’s agent. With your 50%, you may pay a percentage to the broker you work for (e.g., a 60/40 split). For example, a $300,000 home sale will gross $18,000 in total commission, which equals $9,000 for each agent. After the agent pays the broker they work for, they walk away with $5,400 (based on the example of a 60/40 split with the broker). Obviously the opportunity to make $5,400 on the sale of one home is very appealing and the higher a home’s purchase price, the greater the commission. The more sales you complete, the more money you can make.
The Right Education
When you’re starting a new career, education is the first step and choosing the right provider is key.
Here are a few things to look for:
Age of Content & Platform
Content is the key to our success. The real estate market is constantly changing and, if you're not learning based on recent market trends, you'll be outdated before you even get started.
✓ Age of Content & Platform
We offer brand new content and frequent updates to our courses on a brand new online learning solution. We want you to learn, grow, and succeed through the most revolutionary ideas and approaches in education.
Money Back Guarantee
You shouldn’t have to pay for something that isn’t right for you. A lot of providers don’t have your best interest in mind and don’t offer a guarantee on their products once a course is started.
✓ Money Back Guarantee
We think this one is a no-brainer. We value your time, money, and effort and we prove it through our money back guarantee policy.
Not able to finish your course? Change your mind? Some providers don’t provide a refund for any reason.
✓ Refund Policy
If something in your life has affected your decision to take our course, we respect that, and we’re transparent about how we handle it. Call us about our refund policy.
You have a lot to do and time away from home while commuting to a classroom environment is time that can be better utilized.
One of the greatest advantages of taking your course online is that you can do it whenever it’s convenient for you. Have time first thing in the morning? That’s great. Awake at 2 am? Hop online and start learning!
Online vs. Classroom
If not done well, taking an online course can feel like reading a flat and unengaging textbook online. Classrooms can be inconvenient and only offer one-size-fits-all learning.
✓ Online vs. Classroom
Our online learning solution, LEAP, is innovative, new, and delivers content in an engaging and interactive way, helping to better prepare you for your new career.
Most providers don’t publish their pass rates - and that’s usually for a reason. Knowing their average success rate will help you determine if they're the best choice for you.
✓ Pass Rates - Learn more*
We pride ourselves on having one of the highest course pass rates in the industry! Our built-in exam prep is comprehensive and our goal is to enable you to move forward in your career.
In this day and age, providers often resort to flat, overwhelming text that lacks context and engagement. That doesn’t sound like a very effective way to learn.
✓ Education Methods
We know you’re striving to be the best. That’s why we designed LEAP with the latest in adult learning science to deliver a revolutionary experience.
The beauty of online education is taking it when the time is right for you – so doesn’t it make sense that customer service should be available then as well? Make sure your provider is available when you need them.
✓ Customer Service
We’re here for you when you need us, 7 days a week, via phone, chat, and email. We look forward to hearing from you!
