It’s hard not to turn on the news without reading about one or more of the issues we’ll cover in this course, and they all have significant implications to the practice of real estate:

  • Sex and real estate: sexual harassment and discrimination
  • Assistance animals and the disabled
  • Tax law changes and the impact on real estate

This course covers tax law impacts on real estate, federal and Arizona fair housing protections and rights for the protected classes of disability and sex, and resources to help low- and moderate-income households find and finance affordable housing in Arizona.

Course highlights include:

  • The impact of sexual harassment and sexual discrimination on licensees, property managers, landlords, tenants, and clients
  • Implications of tax changes for real estate buyers and sellers, particularly SALT taxes, mortgage interest deductions, and home equity financing
  • Solutions in housing and financing for low- to moderate-income households, such as Arizona’s HOME Plus Down Payment Assistance Program and the Pathway to Purchase program
  • Distinguishing between service animals and emotional support animals, their implications for property management, and how the concept of “reasonable accommodation” may apply to each
