Get Away to These Florida Golf Retreats This Winter

Despite what we see on the news, there are a lot of reasons to love Florida. In fact, we’re happy the news doesn’t portray the real “Florida man” or “Florida woman” because they’d probably just end up making the rest of the country even more depressed that they don’t live here. That’s especially true for the golfers out there since Florida’s perfect winter weather in conjunction with its abundance of golf courses and golf course properties make golf more than just something to do — it’s a cornerstone of the Florida lifestyle.

Florida Is a Golfer’s Paradise

Don’t believe us? Florida is home to over 1,300 golf courses. Plus, there’s a reason why the game’s most renowned pros like Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and Brooks Koepka all own sprawling pieces of real estate in the Sunshine State. The only question that remains is where should you and your clients play this winter?

The Dunes at Sandridge Golf Club, Vero Beach

Hailed as one of the best public courses in the country, The Dunes course at the Sandridge Golf Club in Vero Beach is proof that Florida is a great place to play golf, even if you’re not selling the big homes yet. Eighteen holes cost less than $40, and players praise the course for its challenging holes and beautifully kept grounds. In 2019, Golf Advisor users rated the Dunes at Sandridge the 10th best course in Florida.

While you can’t live on the course per se, real estate nearby is quite affordable. Just look at this beautiful $249k 3 bed, 2 bath Mediterranean-style house just a short 15-minute drive away from the green.

El Campeón at Mission Inn Resort & Club, Howey-In-The-Hills

First constructed in 1917, the El Campeón course at the Mission Inn Resort & Club is among Florida’s oldest and most storied courses. Its 17th hole, a challenging par 5 that features not one but two doglegs, is touted as one of the most difficult holes around. Here, players can relish in a piece of Florida history and all of its old-world charms while losing a few golf balls in the process. In 2016, Golf Advisor users rated El Campeón the 9th best golf course in the country for course layout.

Like many courses, real estate along El Campeón is difficult to come by. That said, this $359,900 3 bed, 3 bath condo sits in a complex nestled along the course, meaning it could be a perfect second property for a golf lover.

Hammock Beach Resort - The Ocean Course, Palm Coast

Florida is home to some of the prettiest coastlines, so it comes as no surprise that their ocean courses are on par as well. The Ocean Course, designed in part by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus at the Hammock Beach Resort, is one of those courses that you’ll never forget. That’s because the course offers breathtaking views of the Atlantic from six of the 18 holes. In 2019, Golfweek ranked it among the top 10 golf courses in Florida.

Want to build your own custom home on a golf course? For just $250k, this plot backing up to the first hole of this legendary course can be yours or your client’s.

Seminole Golf Club, Juno Beach

When it comes to legendary golf courses, few are as notable as the private Seminole Golf Club. Founded in 1929, Seminole has repeatedly been listed as one of the best golf courses in the country. It’s also been host to presidential guests like John F. Kennedy and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Rumor has it that it’s so exclusive, the 300-member club has even rejected legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, so it’s very difficult for even the best to play here. And for the record, Golf Digest ranks the Seminole the 12th best golf course in the country.

While the golf club might be reserved for the wealthy elite, real estate close by is obtainable. This 2 bed, 2 bath condo, which borders the famed course, can be had for just $264,500.

Regardless of where you play or who you play with, you should always keep your business cards close by. You never know who you might play alongside and what could come of it. Golf is just one of those sports where we all get a little lucky every once in a while.
