One of the Country's Best Drives is Just Outside San Antonio

With Limited Things to Do, Why Not Go for a Drive?

As a real estate agent, you’re likely used to touting the reasons why San Antonio and the surrounding area is a great place to live, but great driving roads? Put those on the list, too. In fact, some of the best ribbons of asphalt in the country are just northwest of San Antonio. So if you’re sick of looking at screens or you have a client who loves to ride motorcycles, fire up your road-going machine and make your escape by taking a relaxing cruise through Texas Hill Country on Country Ranch Roads 335, 336, and 337.

Known to many as ‘The Twisted Sisters’, these roads are anything but the long, straight, sections of road we’re used to driving. Rather, these roads offer drastic elevation changes, wonderful views, hair-raising twists, and tight radius turns making for some of the most thrilling driving in the country. Motorcyclists, automotive enthusiasts, and those just looking to take a leisurely drive come from around the state to exercise their machines and just take it in.

The locals know it, too. Along the way you’ll encounter attractions such as The Lone Star Motorcycle Museum in Vanderpool, Texas, as well as the motorcycle-friendly Bent Rim Grill which has a great outdoor seating area complete with an unobstructed view of Texas Hill Country. We’d also be remiss if we didn’t point out that there are some incredible properties along the way that range from small ranch-style cottages to beautifully manicured estates with tall Italian Cypress trees.

Sound like a good time? If so, we recommend setting aside a whole day because it’s a lot of driving. According to Google Maps, the complete loop should take around 5 hours and 31 minutes to complete from downtown San Antonio, and will put 297 miles on the odometer. Of course, that doesn’t include stops for food, fill-ups, and relieving oneself, so we recommend a good early start to enjoy the route at your leisure.

As always, we encourage you to use caution, operate your vehicle within the limits of the law, and be on the lookout for people on two wheels. Otherwise, enjoy yet another one of the Lone Star State’s unique to-dos, and don’t forget to mention it to those who tell you “I’m looking for a garage with a house attached”.
