In Kentucky, Female Leadership Is in Demand
Women and the real estate industry go together like bourbon, sugar, and mint, especially in Kentucky. In fact, 63% of real estate agents nationwide are women, so it’s only right that we see more and more women take leadership positions within the industry. Well, we’re happy to report that’s exactly what’s happening in Kentucky. The Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® just announced that Kristy Gooch will take over as president of the organization in 2021, adding a little bit of well-deserved female leadership to the mix.
Who Is Kristy Gooch?
Replacing outgoing president Greg Buchanan, Gooch is an experienced real estate professional with 20 years of Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® membership. She began her real estate career when she was only 19 years old, becoming very successful just a few years in. Since then, she’s been one of the industry’s rising stars.
Her qualifications include serving on the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® board of directors, and she’s a member of the Kentucky Top Producers Club, where she served as the organization’s treasurer.
Additionally, Gooch has earned acclaims like “Broker/Owner of the Year” in 2007 and the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® “Good Neighbor Award” in 2012. If that weren’t enough, Gooch is also a member of the National Association of REALTORS® Strategic Thinking Advisory Committee, the Kentucky REALTORS® Government Affairs Committee, and has made multiple appearances in local media, including the time that she shared her thoughts regarding 2020 with the Lexington Herald-Leader back in January:
“Last year was phenomenal for real estate in terms of overall transactions. It served as a catalyst for the economy when many other industries weren’t so fortunate. It also shows how much demand there is for housing in our region.”
In total, the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of REALTORS® represents approximately 3500 members, many of whom are women, across 26 counties. Gooch is expected to represent all members well and will hopefully inspire future generations of female real estate professionals to maintain their ambitions in the field.
