Support Your Local Dallas Sports Bar and Order Delivery
From “America’s Team” to the Mavericks, there are few better places for sports fans to enjoy their favorite pastimes than right here in Dallas’s best sports bars - with cold beer in hand. The only problem? An uptick in COVID infections mean it’s not such a great idea right now. So instead, why not support them by getting some take-out to go? After all, part of what makes a neighborhood a desirable place are the bars and restaurants close by.
Christies Sports Bar & Grill
Ranked among USA Today’s ‘Top 10 Best Sports in America’, Christies Sports Bar - under normal conditions - offers more than 60 HDTVs and fantastic drink specials. More importantly, it also has great food, including award-winning wings. Next time you want something out-of-this-world delicious, go grab some wings to go from Christies and then crack open a few brews at home (because you deserve it).
“They own the title for the best wings in Dallas and rightfully so... their signature sauce is the best thing ever!” said one Google reviewer.
Katy Trail Ice House
Perfect for a post-workout meal or catching a few innings on one of their TVs (when COVID passes), the Katy Trail Ice House, while not strictly a sports bar, is nestled right next to the Katy Trail. Known for its spacious outdoor drinking area and expansive tap list, the Katy Trail Ice House also serves food to die for.
Fun fact: The Katy Trail follows the old Katy railroad line which is mentioned in the song “She Caught the Katy,” written by Taj Mahal and James Rachell. It was also John Belushi’s favorite blues song, hence why it’s featured in the legendary American film The Blues Brothers.
If you spend any time downtown, you’ve likely been to Frankie’s. Currently open until 10 PM, Frankies remains an excellent place to grab a bite anytime hunger strikes. While you’re at it, why not get a 6-pack to go? You know, just to say you did.
“Frankies's Downtown Dallas Sports Bar has something for everyone. Lots of Sports and Gluten Free Options! Terrific Brunch on the Weekends. Ribs, Pot Roast, Shrimp & Grits, Burgers, Chicken Wings, Hearty Cheese Board, Gourmet Pizzas.,” said one Google reviewer.
They say everything is bigger in Texas, and Hero? Well, it might just be one of the biggest in the business. This massive bar/restaurant combo consumes a staggering 25,000 feet, which can’t be cheap. It’s one of those places you just can’t find anywhere else. Make sure when you order some food you buy one of their awesome T-shirts. And also bring home a sixer because, hey, it’s quarantine.
Speaking of sports, Eater Dallas hints that the restaurant group “caters all practices for the Dallas Stars,” so you know it has to be good.
Stan’s Blue Note
While Stan’s Blue Note is still temporarily closed, it’s often regarded as one of the Big D’s best sports bars, and they’re doing something pretty cool. Right now, when you purchase a gift card, 50 percent of the proceeds will go towards the displaced staff. You still get 100 percent of the card to use, and when things are back to normal, you’ll want to use it. That’s because Stan’s Blue Note was rated as D Magazine’s Best Sports Bar of 2019.
