For those living under a rock, America will be partying it up for its big 2-4-3 this 4th of July. We want to celebrate the red, white, and blue by highlighting the six best firework displays in the country and how you can see them.
1) Washington D.C.
There’s nothing more American than popping on down to the National Mall and watching the Nation’s capital illuminate its most famous monuments. A Capitol Fourth will accompany the festivities, starring the talented Carole King and Vanessa Carlton. And if you know someone who knows someone who works in the House of Representatives, try and buddy up with them to get amazing seats sitting on the on-looking steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
2) St. Louis
Coined as “America’s Biggest Birthday", this fireworks display makes for a majestic backdrop for lighting up the famous St. Louis Arch. Even better, the party rages on with other musical acts, air shows, and family fun activities that continue into the weekend. Just make sure you arrive early to get prime seating behind the arch itself.
New York City will be celebrating the 4th in style by launching their colorful explosions right next to the Brooklyn Bridge and onlooking barges on the East River. The 25-minute show, presented by Macy’s, will be featured on NBC and set to the scores of The Wizard of Oz and other famous Hollywood films. The entertainment starts at 8 PM EST, and will feature the voices of some of your favorite Oscar and Grammy award-winning singers.
4) New Orleans
If you’re looking for a relaxingly quiet fourth, stay far away from New Orleans. Like every other N'awlins party, they go the distance. This party––known as the “Go 4th on the River”––is fueled by steamboat cruises lighting off fireworks riding the Mississippi River as onlookers sitting on the shore chug sip on Pat O’Brien Hurricanes. There is no end to the party in the Big Easy. Just make sure you reserve a spot on the river before it gets too packed.
Celebrate where it all began: The City of Brotherly Love. Roam the streets and uncover the dozens of events happening around the city, including free concerts featuring Jennifer Hudson and Meghan Trainor. This Wawa-sponsored event will have three stunning fireworks displays (two at Penn’s Landing next to the Delaware river before the 4th and one to end the night at the Philadelphia Museum of Art).
Throw yourself a Tea Party because this firework show will be revolutionary! This dazzling firework display over the Charles River will feature music from the Boston Pops and include guests Queen Latifa, Amanda Mena, and Arlo Guthrie. This firework show can be seen from almost anywhere in the Boston proper area, so pull out the lounge chair, get out a cold Sam Adams, and enjoy Boston at its finest.
