Dallas is Still the Place to Be
While COVID-19 headlines dominate our newsfeeds and we’re all trying our best to stay inside, it can be easy to get caught up in the uncertainty of it all. Luckily, as we explored in our last blog “Dallas Real Estate Experts Weigh In On COVID-19 Challenges,” local real estate experts remain hopeful for the future. We also know that it’s not permanent, but until we get there, there’s no better time than now to revisit what makes the Big D the place to be. Here are 5 reasons why Dallas remains one of the absolute best places in the country:
5. Dallas Sports
Dallas is a sports-lover’s paradise. From the Dallas Cowboys to the Mavericks, to the Rangers, the Big D offers all of the major professional sports and the sports bars to boot. You can even catch NASCAR and IndyCar Series races at nearby Texas Motor Speedway or a major PGA golf tournament at Trinity Forest Golf Club. Regardless of what you’re into, there’s a little something for everyone.
4. Dallas Arts & Culture
When it comes to arts and culture, Dallas has some serious chops. Notable locales include the Dallas Museum of Art, the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, the award-winning Perot Museum of Nature and Science, the AT&T Dallas Center for Performing Arts and the list goes on. As for hip new art? Deep Ellum has got you covered. What’s now the epicenter of the new art scene, breweries, and elevated cuisine, the area is steeped in music history. Deep Ellum has seen the likes of legendary blues and jazz players like Robert Johnson, who former Rolling Stone editor called the 5th best guitar player of all time. Other musicians to grace Dallas include Willie Nelson and the late Texas-born blues guitar master Freddie King, who to this day, ‘still inspires’ Eric Clapton.
3. The State Fair of Texas
Said to attract over 2 million visitors each year, the State Fair of Texas is one of those ‘only in Texas’ kind of events. Here, visitors, locals, and sometimes celebrities come together to enjoy all kinds of entertainment as well as all of the deep-fried oddities one could dream up. Fairly recent creations include deep-fried Oreos, deep-fried Coke, deep-fried Twinkies, and others like deep-fried cheesecake, deep-fried pork ribs, deep-fried avocados, and so much more. If there’s any place to put the diet down for a day, it’s at the State Fair of Texas.
2. Dining in Dallas
Speaking of food, Dallas has a blossoming restaurant scene. Not only can you find some of the best Texas standards like steak, barbeque, and Tex-Mex, the city has plenty of new and interesting places to try. In fact, the restaurant scene has been so hot, the city was named Bon Appetit’s Restaurant City of the Year in 2019. Hungry? Go check out Cafe Momentum. This highly-rated New American restaurant serves up some serious, carefully crafted food while helping at-risk youths learn culinary skills.
1. Affordability of Dallas Housing
In addition to its business-friendly environment and strong economic potential, Dallas real estate remains relatively affordable. According to Zillow, the median home value in Dallas is $224,772 which is significantly lower than the overall United States median home value of $247,084. Zillow predicts that values will rise by 3.0% over the next year.
