Washington D.C. Will Always Be a Desirable Place to Be
With the spread of COVID-19 and the subsequent economic uncertainty looming on the horizon, it can be easy to get caught up in the frenzy. However, as we all do our part to help, there’s no better time to catch up on some of our favorite movies, books, and most importantly, reflect upon what makes Washington D.C. one of the best places to live.
-
D.C.’s Tourism
There’s a history and a mystique to Washington D.C. that attracts visitors from around the world, so why not own a piece of that? In 2018, the nation’s capital attracted 23.8 million visitors, marking the 9th consecutive year of record-breaking visitation. On top of that, there are 17 major museums and galleries in the city.
-
D.C.’s Economic Momentum
Before COVID-19 put things on hold, Washington D.C. had one of the nation’s strongest economies. With an average household income of $85,203 and a blend of government, educational institutions, non-profits, and private industries, D.C. is a hotbed of opportunity.
-
D.C.’s Arts and Culture
From the city’s annual Jazz Festival to the many performing arts centers like the Kennedy Center, Arena Stage, and the Lincoln Theatre, there’s no shortage of ways to drink in the culture. Looking for something more casual? No problem! Hit the Black Cat for some of the best indie gigs in the city.
-
D.C.’s Nature
Nothing clears the mind like a brisk walk or a long bike ride. In Washington D.C. there are more than 60 miles of pedestrian and bicycle trails to keep the blood pumping. Not enough nature? Just over an hour’s drive out of town is Shenandoah National Park, a place that offers some of the prettiest views in the country.
-
Housing is Limited
Thanks to laws like The Height of Buildings Act, housing is extremely limited, hence the high cost of living. The flip side of that, however, is that you can buy property in the city with confidence that it will retain or increase in value.
Of course, that’s just a small snippet of what makes this city great. There’s so much more in terms of food, art, education, and even professional sports that draw people from around the country and will continue to do so. In the meantime, stay strong D.C.
