Missouri State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education

The CE Shop is an approved school in Missouri: Code/Approval Number: 19900

Every two (2) years, twelve (12) clock hours of Real Estate Continuing Education is required.

  • The next renewal cycle is June 30, 2010 for brokers and September 30, 2010 for salespersons.
  • Of the total twelve (12) clock hours to renew a license a 3 hour core course has to be included. The 2010 required 3 hour core is entitled, Representation Options in the State of Missouri.
  • Brokers must complete their twelve (12) hours of required real estate continuing education by June 30th, 2010. For those that do not, they will need to compete a commission approved broker pre-examination course.
  • Salespersons must complete their twelve (12) hours of required real estate continuing education by September 30, 2010. For those that do not, they will need to complete a commission approved salesperson pre-examination course.
  • On September 30, 2009, Licensees wanting to transfer/change status after their 6 month cancellation period or inactive licensees wanting to reactivate - will be required to take the 24-hour Missouri Real Estate Practice Course instead of appropriate 48-hour pre-exam course. If your six months is up before then, you won't be able to wait for this option. Until September 29, 2009 the licensees will have to take the 48 hour pre-examination course to reactive an inactive license.

Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time.  Licensees are encouraged to retain copies of their Certificates of Completion in the event that they are audited by the state.  Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal.

Real estate course completions are recorded with the Missouri Real Estate Commission once a week on Fridays.  Students must also send their certificates in with their renewal form/fee. It may take 2-4 business days from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates your license and/or updates their website with the hours.

Please enter your individual real estate license number correctly and fully when prompted in the registration process to ensure the reporting of your hours takes place. Missouri real estate license numbers should be ten (10) digits and usually start with the year the license was issued. Please do not enter in your NRDS number, appraisal license number or the license number of the corporation and/or brokerage you are employed under as this may prevent you from getting credit for the course.
