Mississippi State Requirement Details for Real Estate Continuing Education
Every two (2) years, 16 hours of Real Estate Continuing Education is required. Eight (8) of these hours must be in the following required courses:
The CE Shop currently does not offer the 8 hours of required courses but does offer the 8 hours of electives out of the total 16 hour requirement. License renewal dates and Continuing Education deadlines coincide with the end of the month that the real estate exam was taken.
Salespersons and brokers are required to take a 30 hour Commission prescribed Post-Licensing course within one (1) year of initial licensure. The CE Shop currently does not offer the post-license course at this time.
Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Licensees are encouraged to retain copies of their Certificates of Completion in the event that they are audited by the state. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal.
Real estate course completions are recorded with the Mississippi Real Estate Commission once a week via US Mail. We report to MREC on Wednesday of each week except for the last week of the month when we report each business day. It may take 5-7 business days from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates your license and/or updates their website with the hours. It is up to the licensee to ensure they complete their CE hours enough time in advance of their renewal deadline to ensure the hours are reported and posted to their licenses in time for their renewal deadline.
