Illinois State Requirement Details for Salesperson Real Estate Continuing Education

The CE Shop is an approved school in Illinois, License Number-562.000241:
Every two (2) years, twelve (12) clock hours of Real Estate Continuing Education is required.
  • Real Estate Continuing Education is due on 04/30 every odd year.
  • Illinois state guidelines require that the Continuing Education Final Exams must be proctored. Proctor information can be found under the last bullet point.
  • If the Salesperson was licensed on or before April 30, 2007, six (6) of the required twelve (12) hours need to be in core topics (Course A and Course B). These are noted in our catalog as Mandatory hours. The remaining six (6) hours need to be in the elective category. See our packages above which meet your requirement for renewing your license.
  • If the Salesperson was licensed between May 1, 2007 and April 30, 2008, three (3) hours of the required six (6) hours need to be in core topics. These are noted in our catalog as Mandatory hours. The remaining three (3) hours need to be in the elective category. See our packages above which meet your requirement for renewing your license.
  • If the Salesperson was licensed on or after May 1, 2008, No CE is required for this renewal.
  • There is no longer a CE exemption for licensees that were "grandfathered".
  • Per Illinois guidelines, you will be allowed to attempt the proctored final exam on each of your courses twice (70% passing rate). If you fail the first attempt, you will be able to take a second attempt within 30 days of your first failed attempt. If you fail the second and final attempt, you will need to start your course over from the beginning.  Click here for a list of approved proctor locations.  If an already approved location is not convenient for you, you may designate your own exam proctor.  Click here for instructions.

Immediately upon real estate course completion, The CE Shop will provide students with an electronic copy of the course Certificate of Completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five (5) years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Licensees are encouraged to retain copies of their Certificates of Completion in the event that they are audited by the state. Please refer to your renewal application to determine if you need to submit your Certificate(s) of Completion with your renewal.

Real estate course completions are recorded with the Illinois Division of Real Estate each business day. It may take 2-4 business days from the time we report your hours before the Commission updates your license and/or updates their website with the hours.

Please enter your individual license number correctly and fully when prompted in the registration process to ensure the reporting of your hours takes place. Six digits must follow the profession code (476-salesperson) and decimal point. If the license number is not six digits long, add zeroes after the decimal point.
